Your Protection

Mechanical Warranty

Every vehicle from Premium Wholesale Cars comes with warranty protection. We believe in full transparency — here’s exactly what you’re covered for, what you’re not, and how to upgrade.

Standard Cover

Your 3-Month Dealer Warranty

Most dealers bury their warranty terms in fine print. We do the opposite. Here’s exactly what your standard dealer warranty covers — no surprises, no hidden exclusions.

What’s Covered

Engine and internal components
Transmission and gearbox
Differential
Cooling system
Electrical system (factory-fitted)
Steering components
Braking system (excluding wear items)
Fuel system

What’s Not Covered

Wear and tear items (brake pads, tyres, wipers, bulbs, batteries)
Pre-existing faults disclosed at sale
Modifications or aftermarket parts
Damage from misuse, neglect, or lack of maintenance
Cosmetic items (paint, upholstery, trim)
Consumables (oil, filters, fluids)
Commercial or motorsport use
Vehicles not maintained to manufacturer schedule

Key Terms

  • Duration: 3 months from date of purchase OR 5,000km, whichever comes first
  • This is your statutory dealer warranty under the Consumer Guarantees Act (CGA)
  • Claims must be reported within the warranty period
  • Vehicle must be serviced and maintained appropriately

Your Legal Rights

Understanding Your Rights Under the CGA

The Consumer Guarantees Act (CGA) protects all New Zealand buyers of goods and services. It’s the law — and it applies every time you buy a vehicle from a licensed dealer.

Under the CGA, vehicles must be of acceptable quality, fit for purpose, and must match their description. What counts as “acceptable” depends on the price, age, mileage, and condition of the vehicle at the time of sale.

The 3-month dealer warranty is the minimum. Your CGA rights can extend well beyond this depending on the vehicle. A $40,000 car with 50,000km is expected to last significantly longer than a $8,000 car with 200,000km.

“The CGA is your baseline. Our warranty is on top of that.”

Why You Should Consider Extended Warranty

Our 3-month warranty and your CGA rights give you a solid foundation. But here’s the reality — mechanical failures don’t follow a calendar.

The Reality of Repair Costs

Transmission repair

$3,000 - $6,000

Engine rebuild

$5,000 - $12,000

Turbo replacement

$2,000 - $4,000

Most major failures occur between 6–24 months of ownership — after the dealer warranty expires.

What Extended Warranty Adds

Coverage from 1-5 years (your choice)
Covers the same components as dealer warranty — but for longer
No exclusions for wear-related mechanical failure (unlike CGA)
Nationwide repair network
Rental car cover during repairs
Roadside assistance included with most plans
Transferable if you sell the vehicle (adds resale value)
Provided through our partners Janssens Insurance and Autosure
